Miniature Pipe Lagging

Running during the Winter months in the Northern States
can cause a noticeably shortened run time.

NGT Models' Pipe Lagging
has been in service on our railway for 25 years
and significantly reduces the heat loss on exposed steam lines.

These 7 mm wide rolls of heat resistant fabric
are first softened in alcohol for 5 minutes
then rolled around the naked pipes
as you would a bandage to a thickness of 3-4 mm.

Smooth with your fingers dipped in a little alcohol
and let dry for 30 minutes.
When you fire up your engine,
you'll notice quite a difference in pipe temperature.
